Please join the South Coast Bikeway Alliance on Saturday, May 12th for a bike ride to kick off Mass State Bike Week 2018. We will offer three rides, all with scenic water views.
The first will be a 9 mile loop on a dedicated bike path through Fairhaven and Mattapoisett. This is a very family friendly ride. Most years we have had three generations of riders in the same family on this ride. The bike path intersects a beautiful hiking trail that leads down the Shaws Cove in Fairhaven. People looking to mix biking and hiking can leave their bikes at the bike rack at the intersection of the bike path and Shaw Farm Trail and hike into the woods or down to the water for lunch before returning back to Fort Phoenix.http://www.savebuzzardsbay.org/places-to-go/shaw-farm-trail/
The Second ride will be a 20 mile ride on the bike path and then out onto Sconticut Neck Road and onto scenic West Island.
The third ride will be a 40 mile route into the quite country roads of Mattapoisett, Rochester, Lakevill and Acushnet, passing by a number of scenic water views.
Registration will begin at 9:00 at Fort Phoenix, located at the southern end of Green Street in Fairhaven, and the rides will all leave at 9:30.
