    2nd Annual Sandwich Bike Rodeo

    Co-presented by the SBPC and St. John's Episcopal Church, with participation from Sandwich police and fire departments, MassBike, Barnstable County Sheriff's Office, Cape Cod BMX, among others. The 2nd annual event we'll be at Forestdale School from 9 a.m. to noon, and will include an obstacle course designed to teach bicycle skills and safety, and a bike and helmet decoration station.

    Bike Month Kick Off!

    Come help celebrate the coming of Bike Month (May) by coming to Aeronaut and joining your fellow bike advocates and bike enthusiasts and the bike curious with live music, over 25 bike advocacy organizations and businesses, fun games, and a panel discussion focused on car-free lifestyles. And you can drop off your bike with a bike valet when you arrive! And you can bring your kids as this is a child-friendly event (we'll even have activities to keep them busy).     Open Hours at Pedal n' Wrench

    North Adams first future bike collective has open hours for folks to come and learn how to maintain and tune up their bikes to prep for riding season. Community volunteers donate time to share knowledge with others about bicycles.

    Come to Aeronaut for the Somerville Bike Committee's monthly Bike Talk Social Hour where every month we feature speakers from the greater Boston bicycling community. On May 1, we're featuring two speakers from the Somerville Bike Committee- Ken Carlson and Tom Lamar who'll be talking about the past, present and future of biking in the Ville Oh yeah, and you can drink some mighty fine brews from a Silver level bicycle friendly business!

    Blessing of the Bay Boathouse in Somerville, MA

    Somerville Annual Spring Clean Up & Breakfast at Blessing of the Bay Boathouse

    Join the City of Somerville, Groundwork Somerville, and Comcast Cares for the annual Spring Cleanup, Sat., May 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All participants are invited to meet at the Blessing of the Bay Boat House on Shore Drive, at 9 a.m. for breakfast and coffee before setting out to your ward clean-up. 

    Residents are invited to join Ward Captains and City officials in each of the City’s seven wards to help prepare the city for the spring and summer by planting flowers, weeding open spaces, and otherwise cleaning our community following the long winter months. All participants are invited to a community breakfast at the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse on Shore Drive immediately before the clean-up from 9am – 10am. There will be a short speaking program from elected officials, Comcast, and Groundwork staff, as well as tabling and interactive activities from local environmental organizations.

    Pre-registration is NOT required, however, if you have a group larger than 5 people coming together it is very helpful to let us know you are coming so we can make sure we have enough supplies for your team.

    Volunteers should meet Ward Captains at 10 a.m. at the following locations (breakfast will be served at the Boat House on Shore Drive at 9 a.m.):

    Mattapan Bike Workshop Series

    Every Saturday from 5/4/19 to 6/8/19 (excluding 5/25)

    Mattapan's Basic Bike Workshop Series is a youth-led 5-week series that teaches local residents how to perform basic bike repair so they can continue their joy of bike riding. Along with bike repair, the series will cover topics such as street riding, healthy eating, bike safety, what to wear, the anatomy of a bike, ABC Check, and much more. These workshops are geared towards those who want to know the basics when riding their bike and maintaining their bike. Participants will receive basic bike related tools after the completion of the series and be encouraged to teach others as well!

    13 mile ride will cover the segment of the Northern Strand Community Trail between Malden and Everett. We will ride down Lebanon Street to get to the trail. Co-hosted by the Melrose Pedestrian Bicycle Advisory Committee and Bike to the Sea.

    Family Biking Kick-Start

    At the corner of Flagg St and Memorial Drive, which will be closed to motorized traffic
    [rain: Sun, May 19th 11a-4p]

    - Help friends of all ages: lend-borrow, ask-answer, teach-learn
    - Skills practice in basketball and roller hockey courts
    - Try out an Islabike from the City of Cambridge's youth bike fleet:
    20"-, 24"-, 26"-wheeled bikes with frames 12-15", will generally fit riders 4-6 ft tall.
    - Safety checks with 2 certified bike trainers from MassBike
    - Buy and sell gear with members of Boston Area Family (& Cargo) Bike google group
    - Drinking water truck from MWRA.
