    "The World's Fastest Man" author talk by Michael Kranish

    Michael Kranish, author of "The World's Fastest Man: The Extraordinary Life of Cyclist Major Taylor, America's First Black Sports Hero" (Scribner, 2019), is the featured speaker in the Worcester JCC Author Series on the date of the book's release, in a presentation co-sponsored by the Worcester Black-Jewish Alliance and the Major Taylor Association. The free talk at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Worcester JCC will be followed by a dessert reception and book-signing.

    5th Annual Quincy Rides the Spine

    It’s Bay State Bike Week 2019 and we are kicking it off with our 5th annual Quincy Rides the Spine Visibility Ride! Join us to ride the length of Hancock and Washington Streets on our city’s newest bike lanes with an escort of Quincy’s finest in the Community Policing Unit. This 8.5-mile loop, connecting our city from north to south, is our priority bike route as recommended by Quincy’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Network Plan. Grab your bike, or grab a Lime Bike, and join us — find out how bike-able Quincy is. Refreshments and a raffle of items donated by Anderson Bicycle to follow the ride.

Choose the best route for you! 9-mile bike path route, 18 mile Fort Phoenix to Fort Taber route or a 35 mile Fort Phoenix to Snipatuit Pond. Join members of the South Coast Bikeway Alliance as we along the shoreline or through country roads. This family-friendly ride is sure to please. Helmets are required and water and snack are recommended.
