BIKE-Arlington Tour

The annual BIKE-Arlington Tour is scheduled for Sunday morning, May 21, 2017.  This easy-paced bicycle tour around town is organized by the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) in local celebration of Bay State Bike Week. The family-friendly bike tour will pass on both the Minuteman Bikeway and local roadways, featuring informational stops along the way.

This year’s community bike tour will meet in Arlington Heights and travel first into East Lexington with brief stops at Arlington’s Great Meadows, Rindge Park (overlooking the Arlington Reservoir), Lexington Community Farm, and the nearby Goat Yard (with both adult and baby goats). The tour will then continue through Arlington with stops at McClennen Park, Cooke’s Hollow, Mill Brook, and Meadowbrook Park. The tour will end at the Old Schwamb Mill in Arlington Heights, which will be open to visitors with special events and exhibits including "Outtakes: The Photographs of Mark Ostow." ($5 donation is requested to visit and support the Old Schwamb Mill.) An officer from Arlington’s Police Bicycle Unit is expected to join the community tour.

The BIKE-Arlington tour is FREE. Bicycle helmets are required, and all participants will be responsible for their own safety. Bring something to drink.

Meet on Sunday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the Hurd Field parking lot (off Drake Road, behind Trader Joe’s). The bike tour will end around 11:30 a.m. with light refreshments served at the Old Schwamb Mill. Steady rain will cancel the bike tour.
